Having your very own home solar panel is a great way to conserve energy and the

utilized to absorb both direct and reflecting sunlight so that they can be used in locations which have less direct
sunlight.
The main advantage of using your own home solar panels is reducing your carbon footprint and going “green” for
the environment. Solar power is obtainable at no cost to any location where there is sunlight, so you could be
saving yourself a considerable amount of money each month from your electricity bills. Other than that, individual
governments are unable to ration or control its production.
Now let’s have a look at how solar power systems work. Within the solar power system, it is the solar
photovoltaic (PV) panels that provide electricity. The PV panels work by collecting energy from the sun and then
converting it into electricity. A PV cells is made of a semiconductor material, such as crystalline silicon, which
absorbs sunlight. PV cells are combined into modules or panels, usually containing about 40 cells.
The process starts with the solar modules, which are the key components when being exposed to sunlight. When the
modules absorb energy from the sun, they produce power that is converted from Direct Current (DC) to Alternative
Current (AC) via the power converter. In layman’s terms, the Alternating Current (AC) is the usable electrical
power that we require for our homes. The electrical power then travels from the power converter to the electrical
service panel, which is responsible for allocating the electrical power to various parts of your home.

In any case that an excess amount of electrical power has been generated by the solar panel, it will be brought
into the grid through the utility electric meter. This way, the meter will be made to move backwards and this will
establish a credit with the utility company, thus offsetting future usage. This process is also known as Net
Metering or Net Billing.
